Style is more about being yourself."

STYLE MUSING OF THE DAY

But I do mean to say, I have heard her declare
When at the same moment she had on a dress
Which cost five hundred dollars, and not a cent less
And jewelry worth ten times more, I should guess,
That she had not a thing in the wide world to wear!

-- William Allen Butler, American lawyer and writer of poetical satires (1825 - 1902) "Nothing to Wear"

GRAPHIC T & WAXED(!) DENIM PANTS

Loving this look! I really wants me a pair of these now! On the lusting-after list for sure. They have such a cool finish to them and, from what I hear, are really comfortable.

These particular ones are made by the brand Earnest Sewn and were purchased at Dutil Denim Boutique (Gastown) in Vancouver.

CROPPED JACKET

This jacket is soo beyond cute . . . Loving cropped jackets these days, especially ones with detail like this!
Fell in love with this bag as soon as I saw it . . . Such a pretty minty, sort of seafoamy, sort of bluey colour. Delightful.

SOMETHING KINDA COOL

So I've learned that So Hot Right Now . . . In Van Isle has been listed as a monthly blogging pick for the May 2010 edition of Street Fashion Worldwide's Newsletter!

Pretty stoked.

It's kinda cute, they called us So Hot Right Now, B.C. We'll let it slide . . . for now. (Jokes).

Check it out if you have a minute, they have some links to some pretty cool sites, articles, music, good books, some really cool street style photography from around the world and other fun/awesome stuff.

As the 'About' section on their website reads:

"Street Fashion is not about having lots of shopping money or keeping up to date with celebrity fashion. It’s about originality and the ability to apply style and design to what you wear. No matter where you got it. Street-Fashion.net aims to support those who love street fashion, those who wear street fashion and those who make street fashion! . . . Street Fashion.net is a worldwide community with no specific base location, last year Buenos Aires, this year the Roads of the US, next year the UK? We hope to provide small designers with the publicity they need and street fashion lovers with the information they can't live without".

Love it!

STYLE MUSING OF THE DAY

"The first purpose of clothes . . . was not warmth or decency, but ornament . . . Among wild people, we find tattooing and painting even prior to clothes. The first spiritual want of a barbarous man is decoration; as indeed we still see among the barbarous classes in civilized countries".

-- Thomas Carlyle, Scottish satirical writer, essayist, historian and teacher (1795 - 1881)

PARTY CARDI

In bold red . . . And one excellent pair of loafers.

TUESDAY SHOESDAY

Just to let ya'll know, I haven't been slacking, I've just been hella busy and in the midst of completing a five week teaching practicum for school. So, I've been spending long days at a middle school and alas, as stylish as some of these kids are, I haven't been out socializing much (or even cruising around town!) and therefore - haven't been able to take as many photos as I'd like. (Much to my chagrin!)

Nonetheless, I only have two and a half weeks left of this busy season and then I'm free for the summer - plenty of
HOTness is only inevitable.

I heard about this event happening next weekend in Victoria and it sounds awesome - an event
Tuesday Shoesday would be very happy about.

If you are in the Victoria area or visiting there next weekend, I would highly recommend checking it out!

"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes," is an event organised by The Victoria Women's Sexual Assault Centre and is the fourth annual event of its kind.

It's on next Saturday, 15th May 2010 from 2pm - 4pm at Centennial Square.

As their website says of how the event plays out: "Men literally walk one mile in women's footwear to raise funds and awareness to help end sexualized violence. Each year, men, women, children, teens and prominent members of our community walk in solidarity because, working together, we can prevent sexualized violence".

If you're not so much into wearing women's shoes, the Centre encourages you to come anyway - "Your presence demonstrates your commitment to making the world a safer place".

You can register by following the link above!
